Artist Statement:

Ritual II is an abstract exploration inspired by my growing interest in belief systems beyond Christianity. The rich and complex history of pagan rituals fascinates me — their deep symbolism, their often misunderstood relationship with Christianity, and how embracing these traditions can offer profound insights, even strengthening one’s own faith.

This painting is a testament to the layered meanings behind rituals — simultaneously detailed and raw, beautiful yet unsettling, menacing but comforting. The repeated elements within the composition evoke a loose, meditative rhythm, inviting viewers to experience the tension and harmony inherent in ritual practice.

Created through layered acrylics and foam brush techniques on a 20 x 16” stretched canvas, Ritual II invites reflection on the powerful role of tradition in shaping identity, belief, and the human experience.
