Artist Statement:

Music in the Madness is an abstract expression of the emotional refuge I find in music. Whether it’s the resonance of lyrics, the tone of a melody, or simply the distraction it offers from an overactive mind, music has become a powerful tool for managing my inner world — a kind of defense mechanism that softens the mental noise.

This acrylic painting was created using layered paint and round brush techniques to evoke a sense of rhythm and movement, much like the way music flows through emotion and thought. The color palette pays homage to New Orleans — a city that, to me, represents joy, artistic freedom, and an unfiltered celebration of life. As a child, I visited New Orleans on multiple occasions, and I was struck by its vibrant energy, its deep love for the performing arts, and its acceptance of anything that sparks joy.

Music in the Madness seeks to capture that same spirit — the way beauty can rise out of chaos, and how creativity, like music, can be both a lifeline and a celebration.
